Task Bar Cube is a free desktop idle RPG that lives in your taskbar. You keep a small window open while you work, your heroes fight on their own, and every five minutes the game hands you a Steam chest whose contents can be sold on the Steam Community Market. It launched on Steam on 25 October 2026 from DarkRook Interactive and runs fullscreen as well as in that little window.
Everything here comes from the Steam listing or the game's own panels in the official screenshots; where the game shows no figure, neither does this site. There is no code system, so no codes page, and no tier list, because the game has not published one.
What you are actually doing
Three layers run at different speeds. The fastest is the clicker: hover the enemy cube, it takes damage, it dies, gold comes out. The middle layer is your party — five classes plus companions, each with a combat skill and talent tree — and it fights whether or not you are watching. The slow layer is the collection: gear climbing seven rarities and upgrade panels that never stop asking for gold.
What separates this from a browser idle game is where the party layer ends up. Chest items are real Steam inventory items: sell them for wallet credit, or feed them into the Steam Collection, where they are consumed for good and raise a permanent team-wide bonus. Wallet or stats is the actual game.
Before you start
- It is free. Free To Play; the three DLC packs are optional and gate nothing.
- Two ways to run it. Fullscreen to read panels, taskbar to leave it under your work.
- Thirty languages, including English, both Chinese scripts, Japanese and Korean.
- No codes, no promo field. Anything offering codes is inventing them.

Reading order
Just installed? How to play, then the beginner guide. Want the money side? Chests, then sell or bank. Pushing the ladder? Rarities, then Prestige, then ACT League.
One warning: Google corrects "task bar cube" to "task bar hero cube", a different Steam game from a different developer. If a guide talks about hero levels rather than gear rarities, it is not about this game.
